Nancy Kagendo Gitari is the Founder and Managing Partner of the Firm. She  brings over a decade of progressive legal experience acquired through deliberate growth across every level of legal practice—from intern and paralegal, to associate, senior associate, partner, and ultimately firm founder.

Her career reflects a rare blend of technical excellence, commercial awareness, and deep institutional exposure, positioning the Firm as a trusted legal partner for individuals, businesses, financial institutions, and public entities.

Nancy’s legal journey began at Christian Legal Education Aid and Research (CLEAR–Kenya), where she served as a Paralegal while undertaking her undergraduate legal studies. In this role, she worked directly with vulnerable communities, handling matters relating to children’s rights, parental responsibility, and access to justice, and facilitating legal trainings in collaboration with development partners such as Plan International Kenya. This early exposure grounded her practice in empathy, precision, and public-interest advocacy.

She later joined Munyao, Muthama & Kashindi Advocates (MMK) as a Legal Intern, where she was introduced to structured litigation practice, client management, legal research, and court processes. Upon admission to the Bar, she progressed within the firm through every professional tier—Trainee Advocate, Associate Advocate, Senior Associate Advocate, and eventually Partner.

This steady progression was driven by merit, technical competence, and a growing leadership role in complex, high-value matters. Over the years, Nancy became a trusted advisor to both private and public sector clients, handling commercial transactions, banking and finance matters, real estate, employment law, constitutional litigation, environmental law, tax, alternative dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.

In May 2025, having built a strong professional reputation and extensive institutional experience, Nancy voluntarily resigned from MMK to establish her own practice—founded on independence, client-centric service, and strategic legal advisory.

Throughout her career, Nancy has been directly involved in high-impact, high-value legal work, including:

  • Advising and acting for top-tier commercial banks on lending transactions, security documentation, debt restructuring, enforcement of securities, and regulatory compliance under the Banking Act, Central Bank of Kenya Act, and Prudential Guidelines, with cumulative transaction values running into billions of Kenya shillings.
  • Representing banks such as NCBA Bank, African Banking Corporation, Sidian Bank, and Imperial Bank Limited in complex litigation aimed at restraining realization of securities—successfully defending lenders’ statutory rights.
  • Participating in the preparation and perfection of securities valued at over Kshs. 500 million for public sector institutions, including County Assemblies.
  • Successfully advising and representing clients in real estate transactions, including sale, purchase, and transfer of property across Nairobi, Mombasa, and other regions, with cumulative values exceeding Kshs. 300 million.
  • Acting for and advising County Governments and public entities, including KenGen, County Governments of Kilifi and Kwale, County Assemblies, public universities, and regulatory bodies, on legal compliance, governance, and constitutional issues.
  • Being part of the legal team that successfully defended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in multiple election petitions.
  • Contributing to World Bank-funded and donor-supported projects, including the evaluation of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and the development of national policy frameworks.
  • Advising corporate and institutional clients on employment and labour law, including disciplinary processes, restructuring, redundancy, collective bargaining, and drafting of employment contracts, HR policies, and manuals.
  • Advising corporate and individual clients on Tax related issues, succession and estate planning, regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Playing a key role in business development, negotiating legal services contracts that generated over Kshs. 200 million in legal fees, and personally onboarding long-term individual and institutional clients.

Nancy’s practice has served a diverse and sophisticated clientele, including:

  • Commercial and Tier-One Banks
  • Blue-chip companies and large corporates
  • County Governments and public institutions
  • Universities, schools and parastatals
  • Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
  • High-net-worth individuals and property investors
  • Development partners and consultants

The Firm is therefore built on Nancy’s end-to-end understanding of legal practice—from grassroots advisory and litigation to board-level decision-making and complex commercial transactions. Having worked within a leading law firm environment for over ten years and risen to partnership, she brings:

  • Proven technical depth across multiple practice areas
  • A strong grasp of risk, compliance, and commercial realities
  • Experience handling high-stakes and high-value matters
  • A practical, solution-oriented approach to legal problems
  • A commitment to integrity, professionalism, and client trust

This foundation ensures that clients of the Firm receive seasoned, strategic, and commercially sound legal advice, delivered with the responsiveness and personal attention of an independent practice.
